Toad the Wet Sprocketwas an American folk-rockband which consisted of singer Glen Phillips, guitarist Todd Nichols, bassist Dean Dinning, and drummer Randy Guss. Toad the Wet Sprocket was formed in 1986 at San Marcos High School just outside of Santa Barbara, California, when singer-songwriterGlen Phillips was just a 14-year-old freshman, and the other members were 17-year-old juniors. The band drew its name from the Eric Idle monologue "Rock Notes" on Monty Python's Contractual Obligation Album from 1980. Free my heart to feel again
Free my mind to understand
To run undeterred
Pull the blinders from my eyes
Let me see the endless skies
And drown here where I stand
In the beauty of the land
Chorus:
And all my life
It lay inside
For all my life
Tear this anger from my soul
Wash me clean and leave me whole
Leave me higher
Work my hands to make them strong
Lift my arms to carry on
That anywhere I go
To never be alone
Chorus
We were always leaving
Since we started breathing
And running back no wonder
We are torn asunder
To give me life (2x)
